The district community centre and singleton hostel at sai ying pun has carefully preserved the massive granite verandah of the old mental hospital as a recognition of its historical value . the remaining areas of the old structure were demolished to make room for the new 9 - storey building with an elevation design articulated to echo the classical look of the arch - shaped verandah 西营盘的区域社区中心暨单身人士宿舍的设计，保留了极具历史价值的旧精神病院花岗岩走廊，其馀的旧式结构则被拆除，建成９层高大楼，大楼的崭新外观与修复后保存的古典拱型走廊，互相呼应，别树一格。
